Two more bodies have been found in the rubble of a deadly Bronx apartment fire, according to the FDNY, bringing the total death toll to three.
The second body was discovered Friday afternoon in the debris of a five-alarm fire that tore through an apartment building in the Norwood neighborhood earlier this week. FDNY officials confirmed a third body was found on Saturday afternoon.
Recovery operations had been delayed after the fire left the building unstable and the fire department worked to shore it up, according to FDNY.
Neither of the bodies has been identified. Previously, the FDNY had announced the death of a 40-year-old man as a result of the fire, which started with a loud explosion. A dozen others were injured and dozens more were left without homes following the fire.
The cause of the explosion that sparked the blaze remains under investigation. Dozens of people have been displaced by the fire.
