On August 7 at approximately 8:37 PM New York State Police along with New York State Parks Police, Suffolk County Marine Patrol and the U.S. Coast Guard all responded to Captree State Park Piers, Town of Islip Suffolk County, for reports of a boating incident. Investigation revealed a 58 year old male attempted to launch his 16 foot Boston Whaler at Captree State Park Piers. His vessel was observed striking the docks multiple times before capsizing. The victims body was able to be recovered from underneath the vessel and was transported to Good Samaritan hospital where he was subsequently pronounced deceased. This incident remains an ongoing investigation.
