Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria: Five Nights at Freddy’s restaurant coming to N.J.

The American Dream Mall in East Rutherford will transform the fictional pizzeria from the Five Nights at Freddy’s video game franchise into a real-world immersive restaurant experience next year.

The entertainment and retail complex announced plans to open Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, which it calls the world’s first permanent immersive restaurant based on the popular horror game series. Visitors in 2027 will be able to dine, play arcade games and watch animatronic performances while navigating a space designed to replicate the game’s signature location.

American Dream is developing the attraction in partnership with ScottGames, the intellectual property holder for Five Nights at Freddy’s. The collaboration aims to create an authentic adaptation of the video game setting.

“For years, fans of Five Nights at Freddy’s have imagined what it would feel like to step inside Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza and we’re thrilled to have been selected to finally bring that world to life – only at American Dream,” said Don Ghermezian, chief executive officer of American Dream.

The pizzeria will center on a quick-service dining concept accompanied by two animatronic stage shows. One features Freddy and the Fazbear Band on a main stage, while another showcases Foxy the Pirate at Pirate Cove. Guests will also have access to multiplayer game experiences inspired by the series’ survival-horror gameplay.

Atreyu Alcantar, creative manager for licensing and location-based entertainment at American Dream, emphasized the importance of authenticity. “We’re not building a set that looks like Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza – we’re building Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza,” he said.

Josh Berdugo, senior vice president of licensing and location-based entertainment at American Dream and the mall’s parent company, Triple Five Group, said the project represents a unique undertaking for the company. “This is shaping up to be unlike anything we’ve ever created before, and we can’t wait for fans to experience it,” he said.

American Dream has not yet announced specific ticketing information or an exact opening date for the attraction.

The original Five Nights at Freddy’s game was released on August 8, 2014, and there have been 17 sequels and spin-off games since then. Two movies based off the games have been released, with a third expected to be released in 2027.
