EAST LYME, Conn. (WFSB) – A New York City man is in custody after police say he repeatedly targeted an East Lyme Walgreens and led officers on a foot chase through a wooded area.
Tequan Robinson, 27, was arrested by East Lyme Police officers on August 7 following an investigation into a significant retail theft that occurred earlier this year.
East Lyme Police say that in May 2026, Robinson entered the Walgreens on Flanders Road and stole 73 items valued at over $2,100. He reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.
About a month later, Robinson returned to the same Walgreens. An East Lyme detective recognized him from the prior incident and attempted to make contact. Robinson fled on foot into a nearby wooded area but was quickly apprehended with the help of a police K-9. He was arrested at the scene and charged with interfering with an officer.
After that arrest, detectives were able to positively identify Robinson as the suspect in the May theft and obtain an arrest warrant. He was taken into custody on that warrant on August 7.
In addition to the local theft charges, officers discovered that Robinson had an outstanding arrest warrant from the Warwick Police Department in Rhode Island on separate larceny-related charges.
Robinson remains in custody pending further judicial proceedings.
