NORWICH, N.Y. (WBNG) — New York State Police in Norwich are asking for the public’s help to identify a woman accused of stealing about $830 worth of merchandise from Walmart.
Troopers say the woman entered the Norwich Walmart at about 1:48 p.m. on July 30, 2026, scanned a few items at a self-checkout lane, but then allegedly left the store without paying for the rest of her cart.
When a store employee stopped the woman to check her receipt, she reportedly showed an old, crumpled receipt from a distance and kept walking out of the store with toys, electronics and household goods.
Police say she was briefly accompanied by a man who did not take any items, and both left the parking lot in a silver or gray sedan of an unknown make or model.
Anyone with information or who recognizes the woman is asked to contact the State Police at 607-561-7400, referencing case number NY2600958692.
