After 14 years, the city officially brought back its neon green “shame stickers” last week.
The stickers will be placed on cars that don’t move for alternate side parking and street cleanings.
Meanwhile, state lawmakers are considering passing a bill that would install cameras on street sweepers to help identify drivers who fail to move, which could make the stickers obsolete.
Sanitation Commissioner Gregory Anderson joined NY1’s Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Monday to discuss more.
“The idea is the nuisance, the inconvenience of having to take the sticker off. I don’t think anyone wants to drive around with it stuck there,” he said. “But certainly, if shame comes along with it, that’s a good thing as well.”
