LONG ISLAND (PIX11) — With more heat and humidity forecast for this week, New Yorkers may have to find different ways to cool off due to some beach advisories.
The Nassau County Department of Health has issued an advisory against swimming in nine beaches on Tuesday after heavy rainfall and stormwater runoff. The runoff can cause elevated bacteria levels and make beach water unsafe to swim in.

The advisories are expected to be lifted by 8 a.m. Wednesday unless there’s more heavy rainfall or continued elevated levels of bacteria.
