Skinny Louie, the viral Miami-based burger joint known for its simple menu of Black Angus beef smash burgers, thin fries, and milkshakes, is rapidly expanding in NYC, opening its fifth location in Manhattan this week.
According to a report by QSR Magazine, the chain will open up shop at 1 East Plaza in the Penn District near Penn Station on Friday, Aug. 14. To celebrate the opening day, the first 100 guests in line will receive a free single-patty Skinny Louie Cheeseburger.
The opening will expand Skinny Louie’s New York footprint to five locations. There are existing restaurants in NoMad, the West Village, the Upper East Side, and the East Village.
And Skinny Louie’s website noted that the brand is planning to open a Park Slope location soon that is inspired by Brooklyn’s “street art energy.” Additional details, including an opening date, have not yet been announced.
Established in 2024 in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood, Skinny Louie quickly found social media popularity with its simplicity: The menu includes only three burger varieties — Cheeseburger, Classic Burger and Applewood Bacon Burger — plus crispy fries and milkshakes.
In 2025, the eatery won “Very Best Burger” top honors at both the South Beach Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash and the NYC Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash.
