Two puppies rescued from a Queens dumpster, where they were left for dead with their muzzles wired shut, are now in search of loving homes, a rep for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said Wednesday.

The two pups, Poppy and Petunia, were rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic by the NYPD after being discovered severely underweight and in agonizing pain last month.

The puppies, Poppy and Petunia, were then transported by the NYPD to an emergency veterinary clinic and then onto the ASPCA Animal Recovery Center in Manhattan for critical care. “These victimized puppies were found in horrendous conditions — heartlessly abused and discarded with no chance of survival if not for the good Samaritan who intervened and reported this alleged cruelty to the police,” said David Little, senior law enforcement liaison for the ASPCA.

The dogs, who were initially unable to open their mouths due to their injuries, were later transferred to an ASPCA Animal Recovery Center in Manhattan and are currently on the road to recovery.

“The ASPCA is grateful we could provide these puppies with the critical medical care they so badly needed to heal, and we strongly urge anyone with information about this case to contact 311 immediately so we can help bring their abusers to justice,” said Little.

Video released by the ASPCA shows the four-legged patients wearing plastic cones as they nibble at plush toys. Their muzzles are crisscrossed with stitches and scars from when they were wired shut.

Both dogs are now available for adoption at the ASPCA Adoption Center located at 424 E 92nd St. in the Upper East Side. Though they were found together, the puppies are not a bonded pair and may be adopted separately.

In its partnership with the NYPD, the ASPCA has recovered more than 6,000 animals from abusive situations, according to a spokeswoman for the animal group.
