On August 6, Assemblyman Ron Kim and the 109th Police Precinct welcomed hundreds of students and parents to their 2026 Backpack Giveaway. For this year’s annual event, their event partners and sponsors included CAIPA, MSGE and KAFSC. The event officially began at 11 AM, and like previous years was held in the backlot area of the 109th Precinct headquarters. Large crowds and a long line of attendees began forming hours before the official start time. The organizers and sponsors provided hundreds of backpacks to the students participating in the event, along with matching school supplies and books.
Assemblymember Kim was joined by Deputy Inspector Karam Chowdhury, Commanding Officer of the 109th Police Precinct, representatives from CAIPA, KAFSC, and MSGE, and other local community leaders. The speakers welcomed the many children and parents who came and spoke on the importance of working together to ensure every child has a fair chance to succeed and thrive in school. The Assemblymember and his colleagues expressed their hopes that the backpacks and school supplies would give them a strong start in the upcoming school year.

On the heels of another successful National Night Out earlier this week, we are also partnering with the 109th Precinct, CAIPA, KAFSC and MSGE to hold our Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway for the students in our community.
