Police say a 15-year-old boy was found dead in a Kingsbridge Heights, Bronx apartment with a gunshot wound to his neck Wednesday. The NYPD said officers also found a 13-year-old boy grazed by a bullet at the apartment.
The 13-year-old was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, where he was in stable condition as of Thursday morning, police said.
This shooting at Claflin Avenue and W. 197th Street marks at least the second time a teenager has been shot and killed in an apartment in the Bronx this week. The 15-year-old is at least the 13th teen to die of gun violence in New York City so far this year, according to police reports compiled by Gothamist.
On Monday, 16-year-old John Nunez was found with a gunshot wound to his head inside a three-story home on Prospect Avenue and Freeman Street in Crotona Park.
The NYPD said it is withholding the identity of the deceased teen in Wednesday’s shooting until their family can be notified. Police said no weapon has been recovered from the shooting and the investigation is ongoing.
