QUEEN CREEK, AZ (AZFamily) — A viral high school game involving water guns has landed two teens in legal trouble in Queen Creek.
Police said two 17-year-olds were playing the student-organized game commonly known as “Senior Assassins” at a drive-thru restaurant near Ellsworth Loop Road and Rittenhouse Road just before 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Both had water guns, and one was wearing a cloth mask, police said.
No shots were fired, and no one was hurt. Both teens were arrested and booked into the Maricopa County Juvenile Detention for disorderly conduct, police said.
The police department said it’s aware of the game that students play at the start of the school year. While officers don’t endorse or encourage playing the game, they released some tips to prevent scary situations or legal troubles.
The department reminds students:
Do not use water guns that resemble real firearms.Do not trespass on private property or enter business areas, including parking lots.Do not run into streets or traffic or play around moving vehicles.Do not aim or spray anyone who is not participating in the game.Do not display water guns in a threatening or disorderly manner.
Officers encourage parents to talk to their teens about the risks associated with the game and to stay safe in public.
Anyone with concerns is urged to call the Queen Creek Police Department at 480-358-3500.
