President Donald Trump is set to visit New York state on Friday, where he plans to highlight his administration’s record on crime and safety on a tour of a law enforcement facility on Long Island with Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman.
Trump is expected to tour the Nassau County Police Academy with Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel.
The White House said Trump will also release new FBI crime statistics showing a decrease in violent crime for 2025.
“President Trump promised to make America safe again and the data proves he has done just that,” White House spokesperson Lauren Bis said. “Unlike Defund-the-Police Democrats, President Trump will always stand with our law enforcement officers and deliver safer American neighborhoods.”
The visit comes as crime and safety remain significant issues in the New York state governor’s race, with both incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul and Trump-endorsed challenger Blakeman — who is the Nassau County executive — claiming to have the better track record of making New Yorkers safe.
Trump narrowly won Nassau County in 2024, flipping it for Republicans for the first time in more than two decades. It’s home to two Democratic House seats that Republicans now see as winnable this fall.
In a statement earlier this week, Blakeman said he was “grateful that President Trump is coming to Nassau County to tour our outstanding, state-of-the-art law enforcement facilities and pay tribute to the men and women of our Police Department, Sheriff’s Department, Probation Department, and our firefighters for their outstanding efforts to protect our county, state, and country.”
Trump’s visit will mark his second trip to New York this year to support Blakeman and other Republicans.
In May, Trump traveled to the Hudson Valley to campaign with Rep. Mike Lawler, and said in a speech that Blakeman would curb “out of control” crime.
