A mass shooting rocked Virginia State University Saturday morning that left five people wounded and the campus on lockdown.
Bullets flew near the Quad Annexes of the Chesterfield County campus, at around 1:30 a.m., when several gunmen are believed to have opened fire, WTVR reported citing the Chesterfield County Police Department.
Five people were taken to area hospitals with gunshot wounds, with one victim in critical condition, according to police.

“The campus community should continue to avoid the area and follow all law enforcement instructions,” VSU said in a statement shared to Facebook.
VSU and Chesterfield County police are investigating.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was also on scene assisting in the investigation, according to authorities.
No arrests have been made and no additional information surrounding the shooting has been released.
The university welcomed 1,500 Freshman on Friday night at an event that featured a speech from former NFL MVP Cam Newton.
VSU is a historically black university about 24 miles south of Richmond, the state capital.
Classes are set to resume at the school on Monday.
