The race for governor is continuing to heat up midway through August as are multiple congressional races in New York that could help determine control of the House of Representatives.
With a Siena Poll this week showing the race for governor between Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul and Republican Bruce Blakeman perhaps more competitive than some would expect, it’s raising questions about what turnout in the governor’s race and the final margin could mean for those down ballot races.
On Friday’s show, Capital Tonight discussed Democrats’ reaction to the poll which showed Hochul leading by 10 points over Blakeman among likely voters — a month prior she had led by 20 points but among registered voters — and how campaigning and fundraising in the governor’s race could impact congressional contests in November.
