Ed McGuinness continues to do a solid job with the artwork on this book. I particularly enjoyed the panels where we see Griffin, dressed in an insulated rubber suit, aiding Spider-Man in taking care of Electro. Other highlights include the domestic scene of Peter having breakfast with his Aunt May, where they are eating some burned toast that simply isn’t fit for human consumption.
Overall
This was another enjoyable issue, but I am beginning to wonder if we are just treading water until Cormac’s true identity is revealed, or something else happens that kicks off a much bigger story. The last few issues have felt like one-shot, villain-of-the-week stories in which Spider-Man takes down the latest bad guy, while Peter’s personal life plods along somewhat like an average soap opera.
At least when Peter was in space, I felt invested in a bigger storyline and genuinely interested in seeing where it was all going. Right now, not so much.
