Organizers have unveiled the star-studded lineup for this year’s Global Citizen Festival, set for Saturday, Sept. 26 on Central Park’s Great Lawn.
Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean will perform to mark the 30th anniversary of The Fugees’ album “The Score,” Global Citizen said in a release.
Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Lainey Wilson, Shaboozey and K-pop band TOMORROW X TOGETHER are also set to take the stage.
The festival will be hosted by Hugh Jackman, with appearances by Rachel Brosnahan, Gayle King and other yet-to-be-announced guests.
Global Citizen Festival is an annual music festival that highlights international challenges and urges attendees to take action to address them.
This year’s festival aims to combat extreme poverty, improve educational access for children, support small farmers and broaden access to electricity in homes, according to organizers.
Would-be attendees will be able to enter a free ticket lottery after taking action on various causes via the Global Citizen app — or make a $25 charitable donation to get a ticket, organizers said.
“All donations will give back to New York City. Funds raised will go to City Parks Foundation to support their free programming and community engagement initiatives in parks across all five boroughs, as well as to organizations helping those experiencing homelessness across the city,” Global Citizen said in its release.
“Tickets available through this option are limited, and the majority of Festival tickets will continue to be available for free by taking action through the Global Citizen app,” the release added.
The festival comes on the heels of the Global Citizen-produced FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, which the organization said helped raise $60 million for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
