Antwayn Hopper (A Strange Loop, The Life) will record a debut album at a November 30 cabaret show at NYC’s 54 Below. The album is being produced by Mia Moravis for Center Stage Records, with a release date to be announced.
The performance will feature Hopper lending his trademark bass vocal stylings to showtunes, pop solos, and more, with special guests to include Melody A. Betts, Adriane Lenox, Kecia Lewis, and RuPaul’s Drag Race favorite Willam.
Hopper will be backed by The Notes, led by music director Asher Denburg on piano. The ensemble will also include Carlos Mena, Rob Mitzner, Sophie Manaloff, and Aveion Walker. Nora Fox, Felicia Boswell, and Christin Byrdsong will provide backing vocals as The Staves.
Hopper made his Broadway debut playing Gus in Hair, returning as part of the original cast of the Pulitzer- and Tony-winning A Strange Loop. He’s also been seen in The Life at New York City Center Encores! and Cats: The Jellicle Ball Off-Broadway, and on screen in Will Trent and Elsbeth.
Tickets are at 54Below.org.
