LAS VEGAS – Oalex Anderson and Johnny Rodriguez both scored second-half goals to rally Las Vegas Lights FC to a 2-1 victory against Brooklyn FC at Cashman Field on Saturday night to extend the Lights’ undefeated streak to seven games across all competitions.
Brooklyn grabbed the lead in just the fourth minute as a defensive mistake allowed CJ Olney Jr. to set up Juan Carlos Obregón Jr. for a simple finish from 12 yards. The Honduran international went close to a second 15 minutes in with a free kick that was turned wide of the right post by Las Vegas’ Charlie Lanphier, while Obregón had another chance punched over the crossbar four minutes later.
The Lights began to come into the game more as the first half progressed, and early in the second half Carson Locker and Rodriguez had opportunities saved by BKFC’s Lukas Burns. Ben Ofeimu then hit the crossbar for the hosts with a looping header, but in the 68th minute the equalizer arrived for the hosts when Oalex Anderson tapped home from close range after good work by Manuel Arteaga with a knockdown head back across the six-yard area. Rodriguez then grabbed all three points for the hosts with three minutes to go as his long-range effort after Las Vegas had recycled possession from a corner kick took a deflection and found the net, lifting the Lights to another key win.
