NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — The India Independence Day Parade and Festival returns for its 44th year on Sunday in New York City.
The event celebrates India’s independence with one of the largest cultural parades held outside the country.
The parade kicks off at 12 p.m. on East 39th Street and Madison Avenue and ends on East 26th Street and Madison Avenue around 4 p.m.
The annual celebration draws hundreds of people across the boroughs and features performances, Bollywood celebrities, cultural programs and more.
The free festival also highlights the flavors of Indian cuisine with more than 45 food vendors.
