Hoboken foodies have officially said goodbye to one familiar Chinese takeout spot. Lo Fatt Chow, the longtime restaurant known for its healthier twist on classic Chinese cuisine, closed its Hoboken location at 720 Monroe Street on April 6th, 2026. While the space may feel nostalgic to many Hobokenites, a new tenant is already on the way: Blue Skies Pottery will be taking over the former Lo Fatt Chow space.
What’s Changing
The original closure news first came onto our radar after Hoboken TikTok foodie influencer @robbie.rates posted a video featuring Lo Fatt Chow and its take on a Chinese burrito (yes, it was a must). In the comments, one user mentioned that the Monroe Street location was closing and that Lo Fatt Chow could be heading to Secaucus, which quickly sparked curiosity. Our team later contacted Lo Fatt Chow, and the restaurant confirmed over the phone that it would be leaving its longtime Hoboken location, with its final day of service set for April 6th, 2026. The restaurant has since closed.
Now, another local business is preparing to move into the space. Blue Skies Pottery, a community pottery studio in Hoboken, will be taking over 720 Monroe Street. The studio welcomes people of all ages and experience levels, with a focus on creativity, community, and mental well-being.

The Blue Skies Pottery team told The Hoboken Girl that the new location will be an additional space, rather than a replacement for its existing studio. The ground floor will be dedicated to paint-your-own pottery and will accept walk-ins, while several of the studio’s private events will also move to the new space. The team also has plans to eventually sell work created by students, members, and employees upstairs, though those details are still being worked out and will be announced at a later date.

While Lo Fatt Chow won’t be part of Hoboken’s Chinese food lineup much longer, luckily, there’s no shortage of spots in town to satisfy that cozy takeout craving. From lo mein to steamed dumplings, Hoboken still has plenty of options to keep the Chinese comfort-food fix covered.
