Charli XCX shared her reaction to Nicole Kidman attending her Barclays Center concert in Brooklyn on May 4. The singer talked about the moment on Aug. 13 in a British Vogue cover story. “She’s one of our last truly legendary movie stars,” said Charli XCX. “She came to my show in New York when I was on the Brat tour. I couldn’t believe she came.”

Kidman’s attendance marked a turning point in the pair’s connection. Charli XCX has admired the actress for years. In February, she wore a shirt featuring three photos of Kidman. The shirt also featured the actress’s name in large letters.

The actress later shared a screenshot on Instagram Stories from the singer’s post on social media while wearing the shirt. She joked that she needed to get herself a Brat shirt and tagged the singer in the post.

In June 2024, the musician hosted a film series at New York City’s Roxy Cinema. The lineup included To Die For, the 1995 comedy-thriller starring the Hollywood veteran. The singer explained at the time that the films connected with the world and energy behind her Brat album. She pointed to the character Suzanne Stone and her intense desire for attention as one inspiration.

The artist released her latest album, Music, Fashion, Film, in July. She will hit the road again with her Music, Fashion, Film Tour, which will begin on Sept. 11 at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. The tour concludes on Oct. 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The actress will reprise her role as Gillian Owens in Practical Magic 2. It will hit theaters on Sept. 11.
