Police in New York City arrested man in connection with a shooting death in West Scranton on July 17, according to Scranton police.

Ricardo Nunez-Cruz, 21, is charged with felony criminal homicide, aggravated assault, hindering apprehension or prosecution and recklessly endangering another person.

Nunez-Cruz shot Clinton Thornton-Hill once in the abdomen at a residence at 313 N. Hyde Park Ave., police said.

Thornton-Hill was taken to the emergency room at Geisinger Community Medical Center after he was found unconscious, at about 7 p.m. He died around 8:30 p.m. Friday, Lackawanna County Coroner Timothy Rowland said.

Nunez-Cruz was apprehended with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force. He is held at Rikers Island in New York pending extradition to Pennsylvania.
