Casino Square provided the backdrop for an artistic performance promoting the Grand Départ of La Vuelta, which takes place in the Principality this Saturday, August 22.

On June 29, a group of musicians including the violinists of Violin Phonix, young guitarist Guitar Olly, and singer Mickey Callisto performed “Bicycle Race,” the famous track by British rock band Queen.

The artists are regulars at this type of performance, often appearing alongside pianist Julien Cohen.

Symbolizing the Shift From Four Wheels to Two

Some of the performers appeared at the windows of the Monte-Carlo Casino, while others arrived by car, before joining them for a street performance, drawing the attention of residents and tourists in the square.

La Vuelta volunteers then arrived by bicycle to join the performers, completing the transition from four wheels to two.

“The idea was to mark the transition from the Monaco Grand Prix, held in early June, to the cycling event in the Principality,” explains Christian Tornatore.

“We wanted to go from four wheels to two. It was a way of symbolizing that change.”
