“Why did a pipeline that has already been rejected three times by the state’s environmental reviews suddenly receive approval? This is the question New Yorkers should be asking today, and none of the possible answers are an acceptable excuse for the damage this project will do.”

“The Williams NESE Pipeline proposal has been shown again and again to carry devastating climate impacts and health issues, to say nothing of rate increases this project will demand for customers already facing an affordability crisis. Allowing the pipeline to be built would cause irreparable damage, threaten the health of New York’s harbors, and violate state climate law. For Governor Hochul to approve all of that, seemingly in the hopes of some kind of outreach to the Trump administration, is a  misguided capitulation. As I did the first several times this project was rejected, I stand with the environmental and legal advocates who I hope will continue the fight to protect our air, land, and water, and health.”
