New York farmers have until midnight Tuesday to apply for $30 million in tariff relief funding

NEW YORK STATE — Tuesday, Aug. 18, is the deadline for New York farmers to apply for $30 million in tariff relief.

Dairy, livestock, specialty crop and aquaculture producers can apply for funding to help offset higher costs from federal tariffs. Applications are due by midnight.

Who is eligible?

Gov. Hochul’s office outlines the following eligibility requirements:

Were in business in 2025 and are currently in businessHas active agricultural production within New York State for an eligible product(s);Meets the eligible farm income requirement. An eligible farm must have at least two-thirds of its federal gross income from all sources in excess of $30,000 derived from agricultural activities, as defined by New York State Tax Law. Governor Hochul originally announced the program in her State of The State address in 2026. She hopes it can help farmers facing rising costs and market loss from the federal tariff policy in 2025.

The minimum payment per eligible entity is $1,000. The maximum payment is $25,000.
