Ohio, N.Y. — New York State Police said a Wayne County man was killed in a crash in a crash in Herkimer County.
Troopers responded to State Route 8 in the town of Ohio around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a fatal motorcycle crash. Police said a 21-year-old man from Wolcott was northbound when he failed to negotiate a curve and his motorcycle entered the southbound lane, striking a southbound tractor-trailer.
The motorcycle then went off the road and struck a tree, according to police. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
Police said the tractor-trailer driver was not impaired. The crash remains under investigation.
