OHIO, N.Y. — The New York State Police said a motorcyclist was killed in a crash in the Town of Ohio, Herkimer County, N.Y.
The state police identified the driver as a 21-year-old man from Wolcott, N.Y. His name was not released.
The police said the man was riding a 2026 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on State Route 8 when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway. He entered the southbound lane and struck a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by a Canadian man.

The motorcyclist then left the roadway and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A drug recognition expert responded to the scene and determined the operator of the tractor-trailer was not impaired.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
