Chazz Palminteri’s “A Bronx Tale” Sonny, which debuted in October 2025 as a single-vitola limited edition, is now a regular production line, with some minor changes made to the blend and the packaging, as well as new vitolas.
First, while the blend looks the same on paper, it is not the exact same blend as the limited edition. The regular production version still uses a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper, a Dominican binder and a filler blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos, though the leaves aren’t as old as the limited edition. Furthermore, this blend is described as being medium to full-bodied, whereas the original was called a full-bodied line.
The line is available in four sizes, all of which are round, a change from the box-pressed 6 x 54 toro vitola in which the line debuted:

The cigars are also now available in 20-count boxes, whereas the original release came in 12-count boxes. That original limited edition was priced at $25 per cigar.
Palminteri released his first cigar, A Bronx Tale, in 2023. Sonny gets its name from the actor’s best-known work, “A Bronx Tale,” which started as the one-man show that Palminteri wrote based on his own childhood. He wrote the screenplay for the movie of the same name that was released in 1993, which was directed by Robert De Niro, who co-starred in the film. The Sonny part of the name comes from the character that Palminteri played.
Palminteri developed the blend with Dean Parsons of Epic Cigars and Paul DiSilvio of La Casa Grande Cigars in the Bronx, N.Y. The cigars are made at the Tabacalera Von Eicken S.R.L. in the Dominican Republic.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury and the G-League’s Valley Suns. I was previously the PA announcer for the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League, and Goodyear Ballpark, spring training home of the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I’m a voiceover artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
