We have a short day today, because we’re going to nearo into Greenwood Lake and go to a hiker friendly motel and get some well deserved rest.
New York!
We made it! We’re out of New Jersey and into New York! I appreciate New Jersey for the change in scenery, the readily available water – which is huge if you’re coming out of Pennsylvania – and of course, the town food. I’m not going to miss the bugs, even though I know those don’t magically disappear.
Just into the state, but we can see the New York City skyline from here too! The thought came to me that most tourists from abroad are over there, in the big city. Even though it’s only a small distance away, the experience couldn’t be more different. I wouldn’t want to switch places, not even for the world.

Slow going
New York is not holding back! We only had 8 miles to go, but it’s very slow going. There’s some big rock scrambled and even a rebar ladder.
After a surprisingly hard day, we arrived at the motel! This is the first shower and laundry in almost a week, so we’re definitely grateful for that!
We ate a burger and a milkshake, relaxed and watched some TV. It’s very relaxing, we needed this.
