Nearly 53% of Queens homes are owned by married-couple families.

Married-couple families account for 52.6% of all homeowners in Queens, according to a report by PropertyShark.
Queens tied with Brooklyn for the second-highest percentage of homeowners who are married-couple families. Only Staten Island has a higher percentage, at 60.3%.
Nonfamily owners account for the second-highest percentage of homeowners in Queens, at 26.9%. Another 14.2% are female-led family owners. The last 6.4% are male-led family owners.
Three Queens neighborhoods rank among the top ten for the highest percentage of female-led family homeownership. These include Brookville in fifth place at 32.1%, St. Albans in sixth at 31.5% and Springfield Gardens in eighth at 31.2%.
New York City’s homeownership is 50.8% among married-couple families, 31% non-family owners, 12.7% female-led family owners and 5.5% male-led family owners.
A majority of homeowners in Queens are between the ages of 35 and 64. This age group accounts for 53.1% of the borough’s homeowners, compared to 39.9% among those at least 65 years of age and 7% for people under 35.
New York City’s homeownership by age group included 53.9% among those between 35 and 64 years of age, 38.2% for those over 65 and 8% for people younger than 35.
Queens led the way among all New York City boroughs with the highest homeownership percentage for married-couple families in the 35-64 age group, at approximately 31%. This data shows that Queens is the number one preferred spot for middle-aged and older couples and families looking to buy a home in New York City.
