NEW YORK (WABC) — Thunderstorms could become heavy enough to produce flooding downpours and gusty winds on Thursday afternoon and evening.

A flood watch has been issued for much of the Tri-State area, including New York City.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for parts of new Jersey through the evening.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely to intensify during the evening commute, creating slow and potentially hazardous travel conditions.
