High-scoring Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas has been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain and will be reevaluated in three-to-four weeks, the team announced Friday.
Thomas suffered the injury during the first quarter of Wednesday’s 112-103 win over the Indiana Pacers when he missed a stepback jumper and appeared to injure himself while landing. He carefully jogged up the court before calling to the bench for a sub. The Nets ruled Thomas out for the rest of the game with left hamstring tightness.
Afterward, coach Jordi Fernández said Brooklyn would reevaluate Thomas on Thursday.

Thomas, 24, dealt with hamstring issues three times last season, limiting him to 25 games for the campaign. The 2021 first-round draft pick has been the Nets’ leading scorer in each of the past two seasons, averaging 22.5 points per game in 2023-24 and improving to 24 points per game last season.
Unlike many other players with a comparable scoring track record, Thomas was unable to secure a contract extension with the Nets before last season. That led to him becoming a restricted free agent this past summer, when the Nets had the right to match any offer sheet he signed with another team. Brooklyn was the only team with significant cap space, which limited Thomas’ market.
In September, Thomas accepted the Nets’ $5.99 million qualifying offer to enter the final season of his contract.
It will make him an unrestricted free agent next summer, when he’ll be free to sign with any team without the Nets having the right to match an offer. By signing his qualifying offer, Brooklyn cannot trade Thomas this season without his consent.
The Nets are 1-7 to start the season and will host the Detroit Pistons on Friday night.
