FLATBUSH — AFROBEATS STAR ASAKE will join conductor Glenn Alexander II and a 60-piece orchestra for Red Bull Symphonic at the Kings Theatre on Nov. 8, amNewYork reported.
The one-night event, Red Bull Symphonic’s first in New York, will reinterpret the Grammy nominee’s hits through classical instrumentation.
Alexander, a veteran of Les Misérables and the Atlanta Symphony, called the planned performance “magical,” “worship” and “groundbreaking/one of a kind.”
Organizers say the Brooklyn concert aims to make orchestral music more accessible while celebrating African innovation in sound.
