BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. (WBNG) — A Brooklyn man was charged with multiple drug-related felonies after a vehicle pursuit in Broome County, according to New York State Police.
Ferris Travon Brown, 42, was arrested and charged with the following:
Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony.Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.Reckless endangerment in the first degree, a class D felony.Tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony.Criminally using drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.Unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
On Tuesday, Aug. 18, troopers initiated a traffic stop after observing a speeding 2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling westbound on State Highway 17/Interstate 86 in the Town of Sanford.
The driver, Brown, initially stopped but then fled from the scene. During the pursuit, NYSP says he recklessly sped through traffic and refused to comply.
Additionally, troopers saw Brown throw suspected narcotics out of his window.
The pursuit ended in the Town of Windsor after Brown intentionally struck a state police vehicle. He was ordered out of his vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.
Troopers recovered the following items after the pursuit:
Approximately 7.2 ounces of suspected fentanyl.Approximately 1.8 ounces of suspected powder Novocain.Approximately 3 ounces of mannite.
At approximately 5:23 p.m., members from NYSP Troop C’s Community Stabilization Unit and Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team charged Brown with the felonies and misdemeanors above.
Brown was processed at SP Binghamton, then turned over to the Broome County Jail for centralized arraignment.
