Two ramps at I-90 Exit 51 will close Friday night through Monday morning, while traffic is reduced from three lanes to two.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — I-90 ramps at Exit 51 to close this weekend for construction

Traffic will be impacted this weekend at Exit 51 on I-90 in the Buffalo area.

Starting at 6 p.m. Friday, the ramp from I-90 eastbound to Route 33 westbound and the ramp from Route 33 eastbound to I-90 eastbound will close. The closures are expected to remain in place until 6 a.m. Monday.

Traffic on I-90 will also be reduced from three lanes to two lanes during the construction.

Motorists should follow posted detours while the work is underway.

The weekend work is a part of the $64 million pavement improvement and safety enhancement project by the New York State Thruway Authority.   Officials say this will allow crews to increase the vertical clearance of the NY Route 33 overpass to avoid further bridge strikes by trucks or tractor-trailers.
