On August 18, 2026, at approximately 5:23 p.m., members from Troop C’s Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) and Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET) charged a Brooklyn man with multiple drug related felonies following a pursuit in Broome County.
Ferris Travon Brown, 42, of Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with:
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd degree, a class “A-II” felonyCriminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, a class “B” felonyReckless Endangerment in the 1st degree, a class “D” felonyTampering with Physical Evidence, a class “E” felonyCriminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, a misdemeanor
On August 18, Troopers observed a 2026 Chevrolet Trail Blazer traveling westbound on State Highway 17/Interstate 86 in the town of Sanford at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop.
Brown initially stopped but then fled from the scene, prompting a pursuit. During the pursuit, Brown continued to fail to comply and recklessly traveled at a high rate of speed through traffic. Troopers also observed Brown throw suspected narcotics out of his window.
The pursuit concluded in the town of Windsor after Brown intentionally struck a New York State Police vehicle. Brown was ordered out of his vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.
Troopers recovered the following items:
Approximately 7.2 ounces of suspected fentanylApproximately 1.8 ounces of suspected powder novocainApproximately 3 ounces of mannite
Brown was processed at SP Binghamton then turned over to the Broome County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
