NEW SCOTLAND, NY (WRGB) — A fatal two-car motor vehicle crash in New Scotland is under investigation.
Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple says that on Saturday, August 22, shortly after 6 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to State Route 32 and Tarrytown Road in response to reports of a serious motor vehicle crash.
Deputies located two vehicles with substantial damage; the investigation revealed an Acura was traveling southbound on State Route 32 when it collided head-on with a Subaru traveling northbound.
The operator of the Subaru, 74-year-old Mark Rose of Westerlo, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The passenger, 63-year-old Linda Rose of Westerlo, was transported to Albany Medical Center in critical condition.
The operator of the Acura, 24-year-old Anthony Depoalo of Schenectady, was not injured. The passenger, 26-year-old Colin Dineen of Schenectady, was transported to Albany Medical Center with minor injuries.
The Albany County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team responded to the scene and is conducting a crash reconstruction as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Albany County Sheriff’s EMS Division, the New York State Police, the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, Onesquethaw Volunteer Fire Company, Berne Fire District, and Slingerlands Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation.
