A 19-year-old Queens man died Sunday evening after his motorcycle struck a guide rail on the Wantagh State Parkway, ejecting him and his passenger, New York State Police said.
Dario Marsalek of Astoria was riding a 2014 black Suzuki with a passenger north on the Jones Beach Causeway just south of Goose Neck Bridge, near Jones Beach, when the bike struck the guide rail about 5:05 p.m., police said. Marsalek and his passenger were both ejected.
Marsalek landed in the roadway, while his passenger landed in the grassy area along the right shoulder, according to police.
They were both taken to a local hospital, where Marsalek was pronounced dead, authorities said. The passenger remains in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
