On August 23, 2026, at approximately 5:05 p.m., New York State Police Troopers and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) responded to the Wantagh State Parkway northbound, just South of Goose Neck Bridge for a reportedmotorcycle collision.
The preliminary investigation determined that a 2014 Black Suzuki Motorcycle, operated by Dario Marsalek age 19 ofAstoria, was traveling northbound when it struck the guide rail. Marsalek and his passenger were ejected from the motorcycle.
Marsalek came to rest in the roadway while the passenger came to rest on the grassy area along the right shoulder.
Marsalek and the passenger were transported to a local hospital, where Marsalek was pronounced deceased. The passenger remains in critical condition at this time.
No other vehicles we involved in the crash.
