The crash happened on the northbound parkway just south of Goose Neck Bridge at approximately 5:05 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, according to New York State Police.
Dario Marsalek, of Astoria, was riding north on a black 2014 Suzuki motorcycle when it struck the guide rail, the preliminary investigation found.
Marsalek and his passenger were both ejected from the motorcycle, police said.
Marsalek landed in the roadway, while his passenger came to rest in a grassy area along the right shoulder, according to state police.
Both were rushed to a local hospital, where Marsalek was pronounced dead.
His passenger remained in critical condition as of Sunday evening, police said.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to state police.
