New York City business owners sued Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) Monday to stop his plan to open a network of city-owned grocery stores.
Mamdani’s goal to open one municipal store in each of the five boroughs where groceries will be 30% cheaper than at private grocers “threatens to further exclude immigrant and minority business owners from opportunities,” the heads of the Multicultural Business Coalition say in their petition filed Monday at the state supreme court in Manhattan.
