Five New York troopers suspended during investigation into crash response
Five New York troopers have been suspended since July as part of an internal investigation into their response to a car crash involving the son of an off-duty trooper.
An unnamed source told the Albany Times Union that the troopers are under investigation for allegedly not arresting the off-duty trooper’s son after he crashed his car while allegedly driving drunk.
The source said the deputy who initially responded to the crash filed a complaint, prompting the investigation.
State police have declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
NBC5 originally reported on this story last week, when a spokesperson for NYSP Troop B confirmed the investigation. However, that spokesperson told us that they were not at liberty to discuss details because it is an ongoing investigation.
Troop B covers most of the North Country, including Franklin, Clinton, Essex and St. Lawrence counties.
