Staten Islanders can get free tickets to see the FerryHawks as part of “I Love Staten Island Day” on Sunday, August 30. A total of 5,000 complimentary tickets are being offered. Festivities begin at noon at SIUH Community Ballpark in St. George with a meet-and-greet featuring retired Mets star and FerryHawks manager Wally Backman. The game against the York Revolution starts at 1:30 p.m. The first 1,000 fans will receive an “I Love Staten Island” tote bag, and guests are encouraged to wear red. Lois and Richard Nicotra will throw out the first pitch and be honored as Harbor Heroes. Families can claim up to four tickets for free. Additional seats cost $10 and include a free hot dog. After the game, kids will also get the chance to run the bases.
