New Yorkers will be eligible for 1,000 discounted tickets to the U.S. Open in Queens being made available to city residents.
The tickets to the nation’s premier tennis tournament will be on sale to New Yorkers for $100 each starting Wednesday at 10 a.m. on a first-come first serve basis, Mayor Mamdani said Tuesday.
“We’re excited about this because part of the beauty of living in our city is also the exposure to some of the greatest sporting events across the world, and the U.S. Open is one that so many New Yorkers have fond memories of,” Mamdani said. “And yet, what we’ve seen is, like with many sporting events, the cost has continued to increase, and many New Yorkers feel as if they don’t have a chance of being a part of something like this.”
Tennis fans can try to get ahold of the discounted tickets, which come in twos on a special page on the U.S.Open website: usopen.org/NYCtickets.

The tickets will be for main-draw matches taking place from Sunday, Aug. 30, through Tuesday, Sept. 8 in the Arthur Ashe Stadium and Louis Armstrong Stadium. They will include grounds passes.

The tickets will not be available for resale.
The cost of attending the event has skyrocketed in recent years with resale sites that have no cap on prices.
“We want as many people as possible to experience tennis and the U.S. Open, and this additional Main Draw ticket access for New Yorkers only strengthens that commitment,” U.S. Tennis Association CEO Craig Tiley said in a statement. “Access to tennis will always be our priority, and we’re proud to be able to deliver this Main Draw ticket offer to the residents of New York — the home of the US Open for more than 100 years.”
The mayor has emphasized sweepstakes-style giveaways in his first months in office, including a lottery for World Cup tickets, sought-after limited run soccer jerseys and a free Broadway ticket lottery for high school students.
