Housing lottery underway for two units in Astoria, rent at $2,117 – QNS

New York City has launched an affordable housing lottery for two units at 23-57 31st St. in Astoria.

The mixed-use building will be 70 feet tall and span 10,255 square feet. It will have ten total residential units, with eight being at market rate.

Both apartments set aside for the housing lottery are one-bedroom units intended for those earning 80% of the area median income and with an asset limit of $135,680. The monthly rent for these units is $2,117. Up to three people can occupy one of these units. The required annual household income must range from $79,440 to $122,160.

Each housing unit has a washer, a dryer, a dishwasher, energy-efficient appliances, air conditioning, a patio or balcony, hardwood floors, high-speed internet, cable or satellite TV, intercommunication devices and online options for leasing, paying rent and making maintenance requests. One pet is allowed per unit, as long as it weighs less than 25 pounds. Exceptions can be made for service animals. Tenants will be responsible for the electricity, including the stove, heat and hot water.

Amenities on the property for residents include common area WiFi, a rooftop terrace, security cameras, a doorman, an elevator, an accessible entrance and nearby access to jogging/walking/biking paths. Smoking is not allowed inside the building.

There is convenient access to mass transportation close to 23-57 31st St. via the Astoria Boulevard and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard subway stations, which both provide service for the N and W trains, and bus stops for the Q19, Q69, Q101 and M60-SBS lines. The property is also within close proximity to P.S. 85Q The Judge Charles J. Vallone School and the Hoyt Playground.
