Nassau County, NY (WRGB) — A 19-year-old UAlbany student was killed in a motorcycle crash on Long Island Sunday evening.
According to New York State Police, Dario Marsalek was traveling northbound on the Wantagh State Parkway when he struck a guide rail just south of Goose Neck Bridge. Dario and his passenger were ejected from the motorcycle. Troopers say Marsalek landed on the roadway and his passenger landed off the roadway in a grassy area.
Both were taken to a nearby hospital, where Dario was pronounced dead. His passenger was listed in critical condition. Police say no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
On Tuesday, A spokesperson at UAlbany released a statement in response to the tragedy:
Our thoughts are with Dario’s family and friends. We encourage the UAlbany community to use our mental health resources, including Counseling & Psychological Services, TimelyCare, or Middle Earth if they need support.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help ease the financial burden for Dario’s family.
