GEDDES, N.Y. — Governor Kathy Hochul opened the 2026 Great New York State Fair on Wednesday.
The ribbon was cut on the 10,500-square-foot of the Future Farmers of America building. The building is set to develop the next generation of agricultural leaders and support agricultural education. It’s part of a $34.7 million investment into agricultural facilities at the fairgrounds.
The FFA building is at the west end of the fairgrounds. It features exhibition space for FFA students to showcase their work to fairgoers. It also includes conference areas and more. Ground broke on the building in Spring 2025.

Fair Director Julie LaFave said the new building is one of the best way’s celebrate the FFA’s 100th anniversary.
“From our time-honored traditions to our new events and attractions, the State Fair truly offers something for everyone,” said LaFave. “Our new FFA Building represents our commitment to agriculture and is just one of the many new sites across many different areas to explore this year on the Fairgrounds. Our team has worked hard to provide the biggest and best State Fair this year and we’re excited for fairgoers to come see what we have in store for 2026.”
