Tim Curry dead at 80 after legendary film career

Legendary “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “It” actor Tim Curry has died at age 80.

The star died late Tuesday night at his Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, home — his cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Fire department crews were called to Curry’s house in North Hollywood at 10:42 p.m. local time for a medical event, where they found a deceased male on the scene, an LAFD spokesperson told The Post.

No foul play is suspected in his death.

The British-born actor and singer had struggled with major health issues for many years after suffering a stroke in 2012.

He started his acting career in London theater, appearing as part of the original West End cast of the musical “Hair” in 1968, where he met Richard O’Brien — who went on to create Curry’s iconic role of Dr Frank-N-Furter in “The Rocky Horror Show” in 1973.

The surprise cult hit transferred to Broadway before being adapted for the big screen in 1975 with a young Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick.

Although initially a flop, the campy classic developed a devoted audience, who would often dress up as their favorite characters and sing along to songs including “Time Warp,” “Sweet Transvestite,” and “Touch-a-Touch-a-Touch-a-Touch Me.”

Curry built a career playing villainous characters, including the evil clown Pennywise in a two-part ABC adaptation of Stephen King’s “It” in 1990, where he dropped his trademark British brogue and employed a raspy American accent.

He also appeared as the concierge in “Home Alone 2” and had scene-stealing roles in “Addams Family Reunion,” “Annie,” “Clue,” “Muppet Treasure Island,” “Scary Movie 2” and “The Hunt for Red October.”

Curry received a Daytime Emmy Award in 1991 for his performance as Captain Hook in “Peter Pan and the Pirates,” as well as an Artistic Achievement Award in 2015 from The Actors Fund.

He was also nominated three times for a Tony Award, including for “Amadeus” in 1981, “My Favorite Year” in 1993, and “Spamalot” in 2005.
