SYRACUSE — AGRICULTURE EXHIBITS, plentiful eats, a dairy cattle competition, 4-H Miniature Horse Show and a showcase of magnificent horses, historic trains, milk bar, and the famous $1 baked and salt potatoes — with toppings like butter, cheese and sour cream made from New York milk — are just some of the many reasons to visit the Great New York State Fair, which opened Wednesday with a ribbon cutting by Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Entertainment includes fare like waterski, jet ski and wakeboard stunts; racing dogs; a “magical” drone show and more than 40 national recording acts in the Chevrolet Music Series. All entertainment is included in the $8 admission ticket.
Amtrak offers special direct service from NYC to the entrance of the fair, which runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 7. Tickets are on sale at nysfair.ny.gov.
